Exclamation oil change - how to reset computer

Hey guys, i had a question regarding the oil monitor (on the cluster). I went to a local mercedes/bmw shop and he quoted a oil change for 150 dollars (including filter and mobile oil). I thought to myself how in the world is it so much... but then i started adding up my parts for a DIY and it turned out to be about 100 dollars. The mechanic told me that he has to reset the computer that monitors the oil and that would cost me a lot. Is there a way to reset it ourselves, or am i going to face the dealership and have them charge me for the reset?

Thank you guys
-Raw

Hey guys thanks for your response. I have a few more questions before i start the oil change (this weekend hopefully). I was reading the tutorial (that search feature on forums really is handy ray ) and so far i gathered a list:

Torque wrench
lint free cloths
filter with new o-rings
copper crush washer (what size is that copper crush washer? anyone know?)
oil (are there any alternatives to mobile1?)
ohlord, what is a topsider clone?

thanks guys.

Oh, did some digging on the forum and found the topsider clone. I am going to follow the tutorial and use a curb to lift my car towards the passenger side instead of using the pump method.

As far as oil goes, these are reccomended:

Mobil 1 European Car Formula 0W-40
Castrol Syntec 5W-40
Elf Excellium 5W-40
Elf Excellium 0W-30 (*)
Pennzoil Synthetic European Formula 5W-40
Quaker State Full Synthetic European Formula 5W-40
76 Pure Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-40
Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-40
Motul 8100 E-Tech 0W-40
Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40
Shell Helix Ultra 5W-30 (*)
Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40
Valvoline SynPower MXL 0W-30 (*)

* = not amg approved

(Source = Mercedes-Benz Engine Oil Recommendations)

Which of these would you guys recommend (besides mobile1 since i know that's top choice)? And also i am still not sure on what size copper crush washer is required.

Thank you

Get

the mobil 1 0w40 most of the others are not sold here and elf you can get at autohausaz.com,but why?
dealer goes out the top, most of us go out the top, takes me 15 minutes to change the oil and filter. You go out the bottom you need to get it all safely balanced and angled to get the oil out, crawling underneath, removing belly pan, running the risk of stripping the pan plug(common occurrence) filter kits used to come with the copper crush washer, most don't anymore because most people do it the proper way.
use ***************** resource section diy oil and filter change #2.
