I recently acquired a 2000 E320 with 97,000 miles. I feel a small vibration just before coming to a complete stop. Once stopped the vibration stops. I thought it might be the motor mounts after reading a few threads, so I had my local mechanic replace them... This didn't make a bit of difference, and now it seems like my steering wheel is a little off center. I scheduled an appointment with the local Mercedes dealer for an alignment (they want $240), but was thinking the vibration maybe something else. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
On another note, I just have to say I love this cars so much more than the 2004 E320 we recently sold. We had that one for about two years, and I never really cared for it!
Thanks, Tim

M Hiby and I are on the same wavelength, although I wasn't thinking "warped". If rotors are glazed or grooved (or the pads are glazed) you can feel a vibration or shudder as you're slowing down, particularly in the last rolling feet before coming to a stop.
If that sounds like what you're feeling, and you want to isolate it, find a nice, open parking lot and drive at 10 miles an hour, then let off the gas and let it roll to a stop -- all without touching the brakes (at about 3-4 you'll have to kick it into neutral). If you don't feel any vibration, then that makes it very likely it is the brakes.
After that a good physical inspection is in order, mic the rotors to check for wear while you're doing it.
Take care and enjoy the new ride,
Greg

Thanks for the info, I never thought about the brakes. I was thinking something in the suspension, etc. After going out this morning I noticed it didn't do it when the car was cold! It was only after a few miles that it started doing it???!!! Could it still be the brakes? Or is it time for new plugs? It seems like the idle isn't as smooth when the car is warm (it's not bad, but not perfectly smooth).

I tried your suggestion, and it still had a vibration. Then I tried getting up to speed, putting it in neutral and stopping normally. No vibration at all.

Welcome to the W210 forum Tim. It seems to be common knowledge that the early W211s (2003-2004 especially) have some problems. The W210 has some too but for the most part, we love our cars and there is plenty of help available here when we need it.

Any ideas???
I think were I you I would next replace the transmission mount. Cheap and easy and a bit suspect under those circumstances.
If you don't have service records have the AT serviced asap as well (at least if you're over 65,000 miles).
Both are pretty easy DIYs, the latter in the stickies.
