My front brak sensor will be going on soon, as the front pads are getting low, and the front disc's are well worn.
The best deal I could find so far is ATE pads $40 dollars for fronts, and $140 for front disc's. Does anyone know of good front brake parts prices for less than $200 dollars...?
Hey, white, call your dealer. Those prices will suddenly seem much cheaper!
Seriously, I'd suggest you measure the rotors, there may be more life in them than you think and while they are not the most expensive things in the world there is no reason to retire them early.
That said, autohaus has the rotors for $9 cheaper (for the pair) than your noted price, they also sell Mintex OE compound pads for a few bucks cheaper. They're currently out of stock on the pads, you could email and ask when they'll be back in since you have a little time.
Remember to get the sensors and paste, it's also recommended that if you change your rotors that you replace the lock screw, another very cheap thing.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

"well worn" ,usually means (to me)that you waited to long and the rotors are grooved ,autohausaz.com also
try germanstar.net and get a quote from tirerack while you are at it.
If you hate brake dust get the rotors from autohausaz.com and akebono pads from tirerack.Be sure to torque everything to spec and re torque the rims after the first 500 miles, also be sure to follow the bedding in procedure for the new rotors and pads.Probably time to flush the brake system while you are around there.
Speaking of brakes... I'm probably doing the whole front brake job as well. front rotors from autohauz, akebono pads to deal with insane brake dust issue... I will also want to bleed the brakes and put in new fluid.
On my mitsubishi, I swapped out the OE brake lines for stainless braided lines when I did the brake job and pedal feel was alot better. Does anyone upgrade the OE brake lines on the w210? are they rubber or metal,? the lines leading right into the caliper...
The rear brakes were already done by the previous owner and have 75%+ left, so I really need to only focus on the fronts.
I notice a ton of fade at highway braking around 70-80mph, braking hard feels like total crap (and probably really unsafe).
I ordered a set in for my E55, and two W163's I have, and can't beat the quality of the pads for that price.. good strong value, complete sets of a upgraded pad under $100 ? awesome.
Standard OE quality rotors are all about equal, Zimmerman and Brembo the best. ATE almost the same, no names are by and large A-OK. Or go aftermarket with plated+drilled+slots :
Brake pad paste (used on the outer metal edges of the pad (and I choose to slop some on the back of the backplate too) the big tube is like $9-$12 at the MB dealer and is a lifetime supply.
The Posi's came with double front senors, no rear sensor - but that you can pickup anywhere for a couple of $$.
Thanks for input. I ended up getting zimmerman front rotors and PBR deluxe front and rear pads from MercedesShop. They had very competative prices, and the it was about the only place that had PBR deluxe brake pads in stock.
