need help torque converter automatic w210

hello..
i need you help
i've mercedes w210 e230 year 98 automatic

When I drive the car, the transmission can shift but cannot to move when possiton on R, D, 2 , 3 or 4.. When I stop the engine wait 5 minute until cold and restart it, the transmission works normal again. The transmission problem comes and goes for several times. The transmission always go back to normal mode each time after the engine restart, butmust to wait 5minute or more..

after i read some opinion in this forum, i need your help..
my technical support says must changing torque converter automatic transmission.. that's expensive..
that's i want to ask you is
in your opinion i must change torque converter with new one or i can flush and refill ATF? and i must use oem mb atf ?

please i really need you help..

The first thing I would do is to replace the ATF with MB ATF, change the filter, and replace the transmission pan gasket. Your car should have a torque converter drain plug so you can do a better service than those of us who do not. People here disagree about a flush, but in your case, I would just drain as much of the old fluid as you can. ATF system flushes, if they are needed at all, are more likely to help people who can only remove 1/2 of the ATF (those without TC drain plugs). Good Luck.
