A/C Problem

I have a problem w/ the A/C blowing cold air out of the right vents(middle right and right near passenger seat) and blowing warmer air out of the left vents(middle left and one the shoots at driver). I also hear a hissing noise out of the middle vents sometimes.
I ran the diagnostics test and the only error code was a 1234(The diagnostics tool online tells me this is the sun sensor, and is not critical).
From what I see, it makes me think the refrigerant level is low. Any ideas or confirmations on this??
The values for the temperatures were 91, 84, 73, 62, 82, 152, 15, and 139 for sensors 1-8, respectively.

Welcome to the forum, Ali. Please take a moment to complete your user profile, available via the "User CP" link. Your vehicle year and model and your location are especially important.

The hissing and warm left vent are both caused by insufficient refrigerant flow. Low refrigerant level does cause this, but so does a restriction.

Given the values for 7 and 8, it seems more likely that the problem is refrigerant level. I would connect a gauge set to both ports to verify the pressure reading (and help eliminate a restriction as the cause). Be sure to purge the air from the gauge set and the ports.

The only way to be sure that the problem is refrigerant level is to evacuate and recharge the system by weight, then check the performance. If it were my car, I would not go so far right away, but I would connect a gauge set.

It is your choice what to do. If you just get a cheap fill hose and a can (or two) of 134a, you can do that and probably won't have any trouble as long as you don't go overboard. As with the gauge set, be sure to purge the air from the fill hose before connecting to the system.

And ONLY 134a. NO sealers, NO o-ring conditioners, NO magic synthetic formulas. Some chain stores do not even carry pure 134a. If that is the case, find another store.

Ok. I don't have a gauge set and have never really done any A/C work so I will mess with it on the weekends and reply back. Thanks for the advice. I will post back as soon as I can.

Ok I went to autozone bought a cheap gauge and a can of 134 w/o additives and added a little bit to the system and no more hissing noise and blows out cold air now. Only problem is I forgot to purge the hose of air. I realize that I only want refrigerant in my system but what will having a tiny bit of air that was in the hose affect?

Hopefully the air won't hurt too much, since it shouldn't be a lot. It will raise the head pressure and decrease the efficiency, but less air means less effect. Just don't keep doing it year after year...
