Driver's Seat won't move back

Drivers seat won't move back when using door controls. If the memory button is used it moves back wards no problem. Appears to be the swith on door . Not sure how difficult to fix or if any one has had this problem.

99 E 320 4Matic
Thanks,
Ken

I have read some posts about similar problems and the door switch, you might find them using the search function. Also check out the DIY stickys at the top of the forum's 1st page.

Take the switch off and give it a good clean with electrical cleaner - may just be dirty contacts. Worth a try anyway.

Do check fuses before stripping door down just in case it is anything simple.

Good luck

This happened to me, and if I recall correctly, I had to move the seat all the way forward, which reset the seat switch. Maybe someone can verify this.

Thanks for the responses.

JRS moving the seat all the way up was the ticket. Figured I would start with the easy one first.

Thanks,
Ken

just want to add to this post in case someone actually does a search instead of opening a new thread. when i first bought my sedan in 2002, i thought that the car just did not have that much leg room. i did some research and found out that the tracks of the seat have some sort of safety sensor so fingers don;t get stuck in there. there was a lot of lube in the tracks and it must trigger the mechanism. every onece and a while the seat would not go back and i would have to get a paper towel and wipe the tracks, then the seat would go back. i guess i should have married a much taller woman...5'07" i'm 6'04". hope this helps someone down the line.

Mine wasn't very helpful, but you're welcome. I'm glad you found such an easy fix with the JRS tip.
