Rim Fitment

Would these rims fit a 97 e320? The website chart mentions w21. I'm confused that may/may not be w210. The night guy on the phone taking orders didnt know. Thats kinda scary!

What mods if any would be needed to allow for fit. I presently have stock 16's on and know I will need 17" tires. I'm not really interested in making costly changes. Just rims and tires. Thanks in advance for any suggestion/ opines/facts.

the bolt pattern is okay. the offset is okay. the rim specs seeeem okay but
we really don't know because your W210 uses 12mm ball seat on 12mm diameter
bolt. the W2100 uses 14mm ball seat on 14mm diameter bolt. it's possible that
the rims are spec'ed for 14mm....in which case, you're going to have to buy new
hybrid lug bolts: 14mm radius ball seat on 12mm diameter bolts, $55/set.

I agree with raymond- re fitment.

However, I also have these thoughts...

I would never buy wheels from a place that can't even tell me if they will fit my car. That is in the first and last place their responsibility. And if they can't even answer that simple question, I seriously doubt they will be able to answer a question about the lug-bolt seats (lots of aftermarket are also conical seat, so there are at least three possibilities here).

I would also not buy knock-off wheels...the quality simply isn't there. If there is an MB-design wheel you want on your car, buy in the secondary market, they are always on ebay, craigslist, etc. and there are reputable vendors that sell them.

If you don't want MB-designed wheels then at the least buy a quality known brand. The W210 is a heavy luxury/performance vehicle and wheels and tires are a place you should not skimp. You don't have to buy the best, but you at least need to match MB OEM specs. Again, if these guys don't even know what they are selling, they're unlikely to know anything about quality other than to spout warranty claims.

Just my .02.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

i concur 1000% with greg. i responded in clinical fashion whereas greg gave
a reply which is much more practical in application. like the old Fram oil filter
commercial said years back, ".....you pay me now, or you pay me later."

quality rims have a very important responsibility: load and stress carrying
capacity.

offshort, inexpensive rims may have poor metalurgical specs, poor designed
lips which lend to air leaks, cracking, accelerated wear of finish, etc.

when the seller is unable to provide critical information about their product,
they're probably not someone you want to buy from, especially when it comes
to wheels. you may find yourself paying more to correct a bad design....or
some time spent tracking down matching lug bolts, etc.

Check

tirerack or discount tire first.
Wheel Details - Discount Tire Co.

lots of choices of warrantied rims in various styles for several hundred dollars less per set.

there was no w21 so that is a typo.
tirerack provides proper lugs.

Thank you to all!!

I've never purchased rims and have zero knowledge of where and how to buy. I was a little turned off when the guy couldnt answer my fitment question and thought badly of the online store and their ability to serve my needs. The fact they had typos on their website also said something about their attention to detail.

Gregs210, thank you for you point blank responses. Newbies need information straight with no chaser.

Finally, if I buy 17" or 18" wheels, will I need to do anything else to get proper fit.

Again, thanks to all.

I'd advise you buy from either of the places ohlord recommends. There must be other reputable ones too, but both tirerack (former benzworld sponsor) and discount tire (current sponsor) have a huge following here.

Put a lot of thought into it before you make the jump.
