Bulb type for the OEM HID headlight is D2R, as the HID headlight assembly is
of a *reflector* design. The projector type headlight didn't come about for
another several years for the 210.

reflector based HID

projector based HID

I dont know if the headlight will be stress free, plug n play. I made my own and
recall there was a smidgeon of rewiring work, but easy...about a 2 on a scale of
10 (high difficulty).

You do know that a ballast will need to be wired to the headlight harness, right?
The ballast takes the 12vdc and increases to about 25,000 volts for the
arc design bulb.

You'll be lacking the suspension telemetry mechanism to autolevel the headlight,
of course. This is found only on cars equipped with HID from the factory.

Don't mean to contradict what you said Raymond - as you are very knowledgeable about headlights.

However, I am very sure that if one buy an OEM xenon headlight (pre-facelift 96-99), it will be straight plug and play. Some aftermarket HID headlights also have the same 12V DC plug connector - the HID ballast then will be connected internally using the same 12V DC - which should be also plug and play.

Seems like one only have to cut and splice if HIB kits and headlights housing was bought separately.

Different

harness, different signal to the lamp warning system.Finding an oem set up would cost more then building a retro set of depos with projectors.
