01 E430: Just had 4-wheel alignment done today at my MB shop and the print-out looks very different from what I got for my ML - it's showing in some cases that pre alignment was much better than post alignment. I'm sure I'm reading it wrong. So, what are the alignment numbers for this car? Thanks.

I don't know what the numbers are supposed to be but I've seen several membars here state that alignments are best done at a dealer. There are some idiosyncrasies involved.

OK then it was probably done properly. That is providing they have the right alignment device. I'm sure there are some cheapo owners who won't spring for the $100,000 or so.
If it was done at a dealership then you should not need to worry after one thousand k check your tyre wear. The specific information for wheel alignment on mercedes benz is contained on WIS (workshop information system)

I'm sure it was done correctly because I use them for almost everything, even the last two three times I had my ML aligned. That's not the issue. All the other times I've had the ML and the E done, the before/after print-out was clear cut: Here's what it was prior to alignment, here's what it's supposed to be and here's what it is now. This time around, I can't even tell what the camber is supposed to be. Here's a reading from the printout for the front camber:
Left Before Correction: -1 deg 06 minutes
Right Before Correction: -1 deg 16 minutes
Target Data: +/- 0 deg 30 minutes
Left After Correction: -1 deg 08 minutes
Right After Correction: -1 deg 17 minutes
So, my before/after didn't change but I still don't hit the target. Is the spec front camber really 0 deg +/- 30 minutes? That's what I want to know. I will look at my old printouts to check. If the camber is really supposed to be 0 degree +/-30 mins, then I'll be back there next week for someone to give me some answers!!! And there's more like this on the print-out
maybe i'm just a dunce, but for some reason, even had this been my car, i
wouldn't have been worried about a 3" differential in spec. of course, there
is another view and that's if, with the Hunter equipment, it's so easy to tweak
it the opposite that this 1-3" negative camber is such a gross quality control
issue that it's unforgiveable to have overlooked this error. i'd have shrugged
it off. but....i probably would have at least spoken to the tech who performed
it to gauge their mindset etc. aside from the numerical values, what do you
think the penalty will be for this perceived error?

I was just wondering about the tech too. At my dealer there is only one guy doing alignments. He's also the only tech doing steering issues and fixed my squeaky steering wheel problem after R/R the rack & pinion, followed by an alignment. In short, maybe your tech is not that familiar with the Hunter machine?

Death by firing squad, LOL!!! I didn't get to talk with the techs because I picked the car up after they'd left - that's why I posted this here to get feedback. I'm not very concerned about the off-spec number on the camber, but like I pointed out, the print-out shows more. I have the G'Year Eagle F1 GS-D3 on this car, purely summer rated tires, very soft compound and wear fast if not well aligned! I'll talk to the shop on Monday.
