E430 Intake and Exhaust

I have a 2000 E430 and was curious if anyone has installed a CAI and performance exhaust system and seen any significant improvements in performance and mileage? I'm interested to find out what others recommendations are...

You can

make it louder, you can make it sound racier .Going to headers is a great expense, that require more thought than just adding headers or exhaust.Injectors need to be modified fuel curves need to be adjusted.Maf needs to be modified.
Keep it maintained, proper oe style plugs single side electrode.Use proper fuel, oil changes mb spec oil, change your o2 sensors at 100k miles.Get some light weight quality rims and reduce unsprung weight and rotating mass.
ohlord
use oe paper filter not K/N.

Thanks for the info. You mentioned not to use a K&N filter...have their been bad experiences with these filters?...

Depends on who here you ask. At the very least your FSS interval is designed to operate with an OEM fleece filter and MB spec oil.

Yep, I was talking about a K&N air filter...not oil. What is the MB Spec oil for these cars and do you feel it's better to run synthetic instead? I'm new to this vehicle and want to make sure that I get plenty of miles out of it by running the best...

You car was designed to run fully synthetic motor oil (MB spec 229.5). Most people seem to use Mobil1 0W40 but MB approves of a few others. There is probably a list (or link to one) in the W210 stickys, just look at the top of our forum.

You're very welcome, and I'm sorry I mis-read your K&N question. Plus I found the oil list in the stickys I mentioned and should have said MB-spec 229.3 and above for a 2000 E430 is O.K.
