OBD II or not - Benzworld.org

Not sure but is my '94 E420 equipped with an OBD II plug and if so where might I find it? If not, is there a way how I might find out why my CEL light has come on.

the vehicle does not have OBD2 capabilities. However if you have access to a mercedes HHT there is a plug under the hood that allows mercedes diagnostic.

could you explain what the mercedes HHT exactly is? I'm new to these cars

they call it the hand held tester, a new SDS which is our new diagnostic machine is also capable of hooking up to the vehicle. basically im saying you need a merc mechanic to look at it because a standard OBD2 plug wont work, it takes a european OBD1 plug

Your best bet for information on that particular car is the W124 forum. The W210 forum is for 96-2002 (2003 Wagon) models.

I was able to find and read the blink codes. I have a 4 and 17. Where can I find what these pertain to? Just wondering why the w124 forum is where to find info for my E420 4 sedan. Sorry if I should ignorant but I'm new to Benz. Thanks for all the help so far.

It doesn't nor is your car a W210. It's a W124.

E420 was pre w210 that is what they are trying to tell you.W124 is your model variant.
