I can't seem to get my remote to roll up the windows or close the sunroof on my 97 E320. Its got new batteries and I've re-sync'ed it a bunch of times. I locks and unlocks the doors no problem and pops the trunk when double pressed. The owners manual says you should just have to hold it down while its locking... Is there a trick to it ?
they roll down when you unlock it and continue to hold the button for a few extra seconds?Do you have the express feature on your 97?check all connections to the pse and the fuses.Did it ever work?
ohlord
Do the 97's have this feature from the remote? This is the flip style key right? One button remote? If it does have the IR in the door handle, I know that I need to aim at the Sensor in the handle for it to work... but I have a 2000 with the SmartKey.
I haven't tried this with my ML yet... it doesn't have IR... but if you put the key in the lock and turn and hold in lock: windows up... unlock: windows down. Thats the way it was in my 91.

I just got the car not too long ago. I've re-sync'd it like the manual said. Aimed it at a reciever and put in the ignition to pos 2 with in 30 secs. The manual said that if they don't work to re-sync it. It is the flip key with the 1 button. I do have the sensor in the door and have aimed it at the door but still nothing. I didn't know that if you held it to unlock it it would roll the windows down too. Whats the pse btw ?

On my car with the 3 button (4 including panic) smart key, if I hold the unlock button for a few seconds all the windows and sunroof open. Conversely, if I hold the lock button for a few seconds the reverse is true. It sounds like you have the feature but a different key.

I played around with it... Something is tempermental. If I point at the drivers door reciever with the windows down and hold the button... They will go up sometimes. Same is true when unlocking too, they'll go down... But not all the time. Plus I guess you have to hold it down and keep contact with the reciever. Theres times when I'll hold the button down and the green or red light in the drivers door reciever will blink but nothing happens, just the doors lock or unlock. Does this feature only work with the drivers door reciever ? I noticed too that the trunk doesn't always open either.
You are doing everything right... I think... Be sure to stand close to the drivers door handle about 3 feet away and point directly at the IR receiver in the handle for the entire time the window/sunroof are opening/closing. Be aware that the IR does not work reliable in very bright sunlight.
Are you sure the batteries in the remote are new and full voltage??? The IR transmitter is turning on an IR emitter that drains a lot of current from the coin cells...
Don't assume that the batteries are good because they came out of a seal package... check it with a volt meter under a 10 mA load.
Ditto above post, check/replace batteries. These key fobs seem to drain a lot of energy. When I replaced the batteries in mine, the range of the key was excellent for about a week. Now it is back to its regular ~10' distance.
Not sure about your keyfob, but the three button one also has a red light that flashes once when the keys are pressed. If it does not flash, the batteries are low.
Yea, mine has the little light in the IR transmitter that lights up. I test the batteries tomorrow if I get a chance. I might just even go out and get ultra capacity ones if I can find them. Hopefully those will last longer too.
