I was driving earlier today and my " low coolant level" warning came on. Couple minutes pass by and it started to go above normal temperature. I bought some radiator coolant and when i started putting it in i noticed my collant was leaking and bubbling throught the fan bearing. I have a 98 which differs from 96 and 97's I-6. I saw fan bearing for 9697 on ebay but it did not have my year. Do i have to replace the water pump or just the pulley?

Hey sjc.
That would indeed be the water pump. Write it up with some pics to help out your fellow 210-iacs.
JMHO but the recommendation would be to buy meaningful parts from trusted sources such as autohausaz or germanstar and not from ebay.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

One more question. I see that they sell a veriety of water pumps. I have a 1998 mercedes. Which one is for me? Im looking at autohausaz and germanstar.
Its between the two hose or three. I looked in my car but am really not 100% sure.Theres also a recomendation on autohausaz to change thermostat at the same time. Is this really neccesary?
is in your door frame drivers side along with the production date and that is what they need to see what part cycle your car was built in.
Yes replace the thermostat you will be putting in a new 50/59 mix of zerex go5 anti freeze might as well be fresh and check hose condition and replace the belt at the same time.
