New E320 Wagon - Need a bit -o- help

Please help me out with a few things on my new '03 wagon:
First, let me introduce the new wagon:

Now, a question or two. I looked under the rear seat by the battery and noticed this black box (some kind of vacuum box I think) which seemed to have a hose broken off. I can't reattach it because the little nipply thing seems broken. What the heck is it for, and does it matter. The car seems to have no malfunctions of any kind. Here's the box:

Here's the way it looked before I pulled it out, with the apparent hose nearby (it just slid out, no screws):

PS- I promise to vacuum out all the crap after I find out what this is.

Secondly, anybody know what this loose coax wire back near the BOSE Amp is for (w/silver connector)? Did something get removed or what?

The one box is the Bose amp, but what is the other box for?

Note: I have the COMAND 2.0 without a CD changer.

Thanks. BTW - I love this car!

Wow, I really appreciate that. Why don't you send me your address and I'll mail you a big box of coupons and stuff you can cut out to save thousands on your shopping bills. Its the least I can do.

Youre car has dynamic seats ( i can c the controls on the pic of the interior)I think this box is linked to this system, I have seen it on cars that i worked on and if i remember correctly they all had this option.I can't comment on the coax cable as i have never worked on any cars with the BOSE . The wire harness might be for a CD changer

BINGO! I think that's it.

I can't believe it didn't occur to me. I did have some problems with the air leaking out of the dynamic seats a few weeks after I bought it. I haven't tried to pump them up recently but I'll try when I get home later. They probably won't fill up at all. I thought it was a loose electrical connection, but hopefully this will explain it. Looks like an easy fix too.

Thanks!

Its a very easy fix , just need to buy the connector , its pushed in to the pipe after the pipe is heated , or use a small length of rubber pipe 1/8 inch in dia.
Nice car too

Yep, its already done! I went to Mercedes benz of Smithtown today and that's what they told me. I bought the new nipple for $4.99, popped it on, heated the hose and plugged it back in. Seats are now holding air once again. Who said these cars are expensive to fix?

Thanks Steve

Thanks. This car was kept in great shape by it's previous owner:

True that! She traded it in at Riverhead Toyota for a Highlander hybrid. Since she's a celeb, I guess she needed a vehicle that's more "green" to drive around in Sag Harbor with. I had gone out looking to possibly buy a Toyota RAV4 because I need a good ski-worthy AWD vehicle. The salesperson showed me this E320 which had just been turned in with 42k miles. 30 minutes later, a deposit made it mine for $18,700.

I'm damn glad I went with this over the not so memorable RAV4. Can't wait to cruise up to Maine with it this winter! And yes, it really was the vehicle of C.B. - I have said DMV record as proof of my now elite stalker status.
