From what I have read this is the one and only grease to use on the sunroof tracks. My problem is the SR goes back just a few inches and at that point the two wire spring cables on both sides jump out of the track and toward the center of the car. But the link that shows the sunroof repairs also mentions that no lubrication should be made? Anybody had the same problem fixed with MB grease?
Special sunroof grease is sold by Mercedes in large quantities for large prices. You can buy a small amount (35mm film can) here. You may have to ask them for a quote, I don't see a specific listing but that's where I bought mine.

Perhaps it's just because I have a good relationship with my local dealer here, but for nit-picky items like this where you need a whopping 4 0r 5 cc's of material, I just flat out ask them if I can have some of their stock, rather than buy a 55 gallon drum of the stuff.

Sounds more like you need to upgrade the guides that hold the cables in the tracks. They were changed in 2000 and are $4 each.

I will try to round up some of this Klueber polylub at the dealer, or if that doesn't work I'll buy a little.
I got a sunroof quote at Hoen (my local dealer) a long time ago, $1200.
No thanks
That might be the fix.
I took G-AMG's advice and the dealer gave me the sunroof lube. It looks like industrial strength petroleum jelly, still the cables pop out as soon after the sunroof starts opening up. and it pops out right where there is an access cover plate, that might be the problem.
Thanks
It needed to be lubed for sure, but even after the lube, the cables still popped out where the cable cover access plate is.
The new cover plate has two screw holes, not one, and it stays in place. First time the sunroof has worked in a long time
