Hi,
Per several member's recommendations I purchased Akebono front and rear brake pads for our wagon. I will be installing them tomorrow. They came with a warranty information pamphlet (sp?) but no beading instructions.
Can someone please provide them?
Thanks!!
smooth?
Get a sanding block and wrap it with 120 grit sand paper.Sand first in a clockwise motion the counter on both sides of all rotors. You want a light cross hatch pattern.wash rotors with a few squirts of dawn in hot water ,air dry and then give a light spray of brake cleaner to remove any residule water of dust.
Install the pads.Akebono 400-500 miles of moderate driving.Re torque you wheels after 200 miles.Do not sit with the brakes applied if you have had to stop quickly.Akebono will treat you well.
Thanks. I replaced all rotors as well (Brembo up front, Balo in the rear. Standard, no X-drilled nor slotted).
I drove the vehicle for about 5 miles and my first impression was not good. The brake pedal feels sponggy and the stopping distances have increased signifficantly. I connected a bleeder valve so when I pushed the calipers back the old brake fluid was drained from the system and then I replentished with new fluid.
I will give it more time (as you said, easy on the first 500 miles) and hopefully the pads will set in and the braking feel and performance will improve. The thing I love the most about the W210 wagon is the brakes and now that is lost. Hopefully it will come back.
Thanks again
I didn't bleed them. When pushing the calipers back, the old fluid will be backflushed into the system. I opened the bleed screw so that the old fluid came out instead of being pushed back. I made sure air did not enter the system.
What tool do you recommend I purchase for properly bleeding the brake system? I would like to purchase it.
Thanks!

Did you do #2 in this thread? And yes, you'll need some time for that pads to bed in properly, especially if you not sand the rotors. Even if the rotors was sanded, you still need some miles until the pad surface and rotor surface mate up precisely and contact over the full surface.
Also read #2 again about initial usage of the brakes.

Thanks for all the replies. I will purchase the mityvac. Been driving the wagon for the last couple of days and brake feel / performance is already improving a lot. It's a matter of time before it's back to normal.
