Just wanted any opinions, good or bad, any advice concerning the E320 wagon. I am looking at a couple right now, 1999-2002, seem nice, would like to have one. I think I may have already posted this once, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

"GOT INSPECTIONS?"
One of the most practical vehicles on the planet. Members from Europe also report them as top tow vehicles.
With the exception of recall for doors anticorossion and weak spring perches they are basically bulletproof.
Safety: 4 star front - 5 star side rated
Gas Mileage: 16-19 town and 25-29 highway (some report over 30 highway)
Most Popular MB Model: over 1 million sold so many
available used
Popular as Taxi cab in Europe
MB uses it for their Service Vehicle for
their Roadside Assistance Program
Just inspect and make sure the sample you buy has been well maintained and you'll not be sorry.
the front end was updated, steering wheel controls were added, little touches that make an already nice car more comfortable
Also someone else can chim in but my understanding is that the crash results are even better in the later models, but certainly good in the "98.
In the northeast you'll see many 4matics available, and they're worth considering slight MPG decrease but no spring perch isuue (RWD only). To 4matic owners a spring perch is a fish that becomes active as the waters warm up.
Great all around vehicles these wagons are
I am a DIY. I work on my 84 300D, although, I figure that is much easier considering it is all mechanical. I get anxious when working on cars with CPU's. But, I would certainly learn and do as much as possible. Thanks for all your input, here, the wife is quite excited to make it her daily.
Starting in 2000, MB included free maintenance for the life of the warranty. Better chance that post 2000 models received regular maintenance than pre 2000. My wife really enjoys her new wagon. Nice car.

My wife uses ours as her daily commute vehicle as well, and she loves it. I'm partial to the 2000 and newer MY as there are a few additional features you get, and the redesigned front-end scores higher on crash protection.
I'll second Ohlord's advice to have the car inspected by a qualified and experienced MB mechanic who will know what the common issues are for this car. Pay the money for a comprehensive inspection so you know exactly what you are getting into. My inspection revealed a couple of small issues that I had the selling dealer fix prior to finalizing the deal. I think I spent about $100 for the inspection and it resulted in about $700 retail worth of work.
If finding a new ride is important with the wagon you can go as late as m/y 2003 and still be on the w210, even though the '03 model year for the sedan is w211.
I've had my wagon since february and it has been a great daily driver.
