Ok, when I bought our 00 E320 4matic Wagon it did not come with the cd changer. The dealer I bought it from sent me one. It connects just fine but the magazine will not eject. Any solutions on getting the magazine to eject?
What aftermarket CD changer is compatable with the head unit? When I had my 95 C280, the dealer told me to go buy an alpine cd changer. Are the factory cd changers for the 00 E320s made by Alpine? If so, which model am I looking for?
I did search and did not see specific answers to these questions. Thanks!

I bought a 2001 car without a CD changer also. I wanted one so took it to a car audio shop that told me they were Alpines but have a MB adapter attached so it will integrate with the D2B fiber optic network.
Regarding the magazine that is stuck, I know I have seen at least one thread where this is discussed and a solution offered. Try some different key words and you should be able to find the info.

If you look inside, you'll probably notice that one of the platters hasn't retracted. I've always solved it by slapping it a few times on the larger flat side of the player, while attempting to eject the cartridge. Failing that, you can try to unplug the power to the player, plug it in again and then retry. As a last resort, you can take it out, take the cover off, connect again to power and give it a helping hand/finger while pressing eject.
The good news is that I've found it actually get better the more you use it. I think the lubricant gets thick if not used regularly.

I took the CD player apart. Followed the instructions included in the DIY sticky and other threads. Now I get the EMPTY MAGAZINE error message. Took the changer apart again. Played with the worm gear and mechanism that picks up the CDs. That seems to be functioning smoothly. Still getting the EMPTY MAGAZINE error message.

I've only had my '01 E430 for a couple of weeks and the magazine sometimes gets stuck. I've been able to get it out by wiggling/prying up with my fingernail on the eject button. That seems to unstick/reset it and it will work for a few cycles then jam again. I've gotten rid of the no magazine display by ejecting the cartridge and cycling the eject button without the magazine in the unit. Doesn't work every time, though. I just bought a replacement cd changer on ebay (claimed to be a new unit) so we'll see how that works out.

Maybe a good idea to start at the begining:
1) Did the player ever play music since you got it?
2) Did you install the player yourself? If this is the first time a player was installed in your car, was the connections in the plug switched around? Although it will plug straight in, the fiber optics normally have to switched around for the player to work. Search the forums for information on it.
3) Did you try different CDs?
It sometimes help to unplug the CD power to reset the player. Of course it may just be a bad player or cartridge that you have. Some people have reported the some cartridges give problems.

1) I dont know. The guy I bought my car from pulled it out of another car and sent it to me. It never played the CDs when I got it installed. On two occasions is recognized CDs 1-3 then quit working and I received the MAGAZINE EMPTY message. Now it no longer recognized the first three CDs.
2) Yes, I installed it myself. I am not sure what you are referring to regarding switching fiber optic connections. I will do a search, but if you have links to specific threads that would be helpful.
3) Yes, I have three magazines that work in it and tried different CDs in all three. It happens regardless of the CDs or magazines.
