What are the intervals for Serivce A and Service B?
Just picked up a used e320 a week ago. the message reads service A exceeded by 300 miles. I have setup a time to get this taken care of. Whats the differences between A and b? when should they be done ?
You should have a Maintenance Booklet with the Owner's Manual which gives a complete description. If not, one can be obtained from a dealer.
Your car has FSS (Flexible Service System). The car's computer keeps track of time, miles, no. of starts, etc. and determines how frequently service is needed (especially oil changes). The ranges are 10,000 to 20,000 miles or 1 year which ever comes first.
The FSS system requires a specific oil grade synthetic oil such as Mobil 1 0-W40 European Formula and a special fleece filter. If you use regular oil and paper filters, the FSS will not apply and you will build up sludge by waiting too long. There are other important checks and inspections performed during the Schedule A service.
Schedule B includes schedule A plus other services that are only required once every 2 years or 20,000 mi +.
Labor charges at dealerships are pretty high so many people on these forums recommend doing it yourself. It is not difficult if you are inclined to learn. There are even DIY articles with pictures for many of the operations. Another alternative is finding a good independent MB mechanic. Rates are lower but they might not have all the expensive diagnostic tools the dealership has.
This model has a couple of issues you should address. The first is that some were made with a defective harmonic balancer. This is a pulley like part on the front of the crankshaft which has an inner and outer ring with a sandwich of rubber in between. Any dealer will check for this free of charge. The second is metal cap over the top of the front springs called a 'perch'. These can corrode especially in places where salt is used in the winter.
These are great little cars and will last a very long time if given proper maintenance. Hang out in this forum for a while and you'll get a good education on this model.
It's also helpful if you fill out your profile completely such as year and your location. The E320 spans three generations of chassis' W124, W210, and W211. For most issues it's the chassis that's important.
Hope I haven't given you more info than you wanted. Good luck
You can do it yourself

Going slightly beyond the scope of your question...
The only things I can add are the following: MB recommends changing the brake fluid every 2 years and the coolant every 3 but I do not know if there has to be a flush done; it is recommended you use MB OEM fluids for both. Lastly these transmissions need some form of service in the 50-60,000 range; here again, use MB ATF and there is a fliter and pan gasket that should be replaced.
