AC fan not blowing any air.

Hi guys

My AC fan just all the sudden stop blowing any air . Ten minutes earlier on a separate trip, it was working fine. I tried to get the AC diagnostic code but couldn't get any at the same time no engine light??

I did some research and seem like it's the AC fan regulator?

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance

The so-called fan speed regulator is a common problem on the W210 so you might be on to something there. Check the Stickys for the appropriate DIY.

I agree. It's an easy fix. I did mine just last Thursday, took about 30 minutes. I was able to buy the regulator on eBay for 129.00 plus 10.00 for shipping.

Search for this title "MERCEDES BLOWER MOTOR REGULATOR W210 E320 E300D E420". It'll be the one sold from deutschepartsusa. I received mine in two days.

Good luck.

All right, thanks

I suppose I'll give it a shot but seems like the fan all the sudden just quit blowing instead of a more gradual process. Hopefully the blower motor is not dead and I don't have to replace the whole assembly.

Any way to test for them?

I verifed with the dealer and also took out the blower unit to confirm that it was the old unit. The dealer told me the whole thing needed to be replaced (regulator, blower, housing) - parts cost from dealer $920, about $500 from autohausaz.com. So, in order to do the procedure in the link, I have to make sure the motor is still working. I applied 9V to the blower, and yes it turned.
I ordered the w140 regulator and finished the job in about 1.5 hours (removed, tested, cut, spliced, replaced, tested).

I am still quite annoyed at the fact that Mercedes decided to upgrade the part at owner's cost (forcing owner to replace the whole thing when only the regulator went out). But at the same time am happy that I save several hundred dollars and with our fellow Mercedes diy owners sending a message to Mercedes that we are not taking their craps.

A guy I know with a 1999 S320 (W140) told me recently he had to pay about $800 for the whole assembly (apparently an employee discount, he's a salesman with my dealer). I didn't realize that same part is what we now need for our W210, so thanks for the info.

Yours car is 2001 so it should have a newer part. If the regulator failed, you only have to replace the regulator which is in the benzworld sticky. It should be an exact fit.
