Temperature read out

The lcd outside temperature read out gauge on my e320 seems to be fading. The time and mileage are normal. Does this mean I will have to purchase a whole new instrument panel or can I just replace the lcd temperature section?

Cheers

Hey, laksa. There isn't a realistic way to just replace part of the display. However, if you've not changed your cluster bulbs it may just be that. (At least you're not having single pixels go out, that's the dreaded issue.) There are lots of bulbs in there (my post facelift has 16 or 18 or more, I was really surprised at that). Pop it out and just swap the bulb(s) by the temp display out with a couple others that have the same color base (wattage) and then see if it fixes it. Of course you can also just remove the bulb(s) and connect them to 12V and see if they light.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

+1...

on Greg's advice. If all the pixels are present and the temp reading is doing the "fade," then it is the the cluster lamp for that section. Pull the cluster, change the lamp, and you should be good to go; this happened to mine as well...

Good luck,

JR
