While installing a new water pump, I broke one bolt head off. It is used to secure "this thing" to the water pump. Now, it is loose. I used a tie wrap to secure it.
My question is what is it? Why is it there? Does it happen to be there because that's the space available? or it is there for a purpose?
I noticed that one of them is a hollow pipe facing downward.
(BTW, WIS for "remove/install water pump" calls the metal part "bracket". Also, the diagram on WIS does not show a bolt for those two holes. It appears that these two holes are there to secure the bracket. In other words, water pump's functionality does not seem to be affected by this thing being loose.)

I assume you are talking about the thingy with the vacuum pipes into it. EPC list it as a change-over valve for the air pump.
