It does not look that bad. I'm glad that the wheels are not chrome. The front looks a bit high and needs to be dropped a bit. Again, this is your car and you need to get this out of your system. When your young, you always know whats best. For now, enjoy your car and do what ever you want to it. One day you will look back and have a good laugh.

Have fun!

I've seen worse

Baller just be sure and get the camber bolts if you have not done so already. The rubber band look does LOOK good. The problems with looks is that there are a lot of unintended consequences. Also, is the closeup of the wheel a bad pic or are there dents in your rim already?

putting 20" rims has little to do with the need to roll fenders. it has
more to do with the tire size you've fitted to the rims

And of course, I wanna put a new head unit in the dash, however I dont want to lose compatability with the steering controls.

If I install a new unit, will I lose that?

i'm lost here. you have a 98 model. it doesn't have steering wheel
control to the head unit.
I was told irregardless of what setup I run I will have to have my fenders rolled.

And, my old model was a 98, if you took the time to read the post rather than just reply it says I purchased a newer model, as you can see in the photo its a post facelift W210

Have you installed the camber bolts or the rear links?Have you had it aligned?
ride has not suffered much? You can't fool those in the know and that thing has gotta ride like a small tank and handle worse.
Well, Im a kid so maybe I happen to miss my bicycle eh?

Its been aligned, no need for new camber bolts. I dont really care what happens to it it will be replaced within a year and I figure it will not suffer anything more than minor issues between now and then.

It really does not handle terribly. Granted yes, on terrible roads and over railroad tracks it is a little harsher in the rear, but the front takes things pretty much the same. Even the rear isnt remarkably bad, noticeable? Yeah, impossible to live with? No. But then again Im not taking it through the grand canyon, it is a sedan after all.

Thank you. I posted the smallest tires on there that I could get away with because I was going for a "skating" look. The chrome rim protrudes just a little bit, when the car is moving you cant really see the tires and it makes it look like the car is ice skating across the street. =)

And no, those arent dents, its the grease that was left on after they mounted it. They coated the thing in so much grease, it requires that and a special machine to get it mounted without destroying the bead on the tire or the rim.

Haha, eh I like all of your cars as well. Dont get me wrong, I am a fan of the clean setups alot of you have, my BMW looked very clean...

...before I destroyed it.

But Im really just trying somethin new this time around. It'd be boring if everyone was rolling the same setups. I like it, others have seemed to like it, sorry if you all consider it an abomination, I dont think the class has been sucked out of it too much. When I finish what I was planning on doing, I think it will look very sporty.

I think that's what he means
Yeah, we just happen to get a lot of silver E430 trade ins with black 20s exactly like I was talking about months earlier.

(Same way a person will see the one they love differently than the rest of the populace.) Of course if you only drive on smooth roads there is not much to notice, but get onto rough ones, railroad tracks, freeway expansion joints, lane divider pucks, etc. and it's quite apparent.

I dont drive anywhere rough, and for that I have a truck. (Im from Oklahoma, gotta have a truck)

Since I bought my car to enjoy on all manner of roads and conditions and I actually like less harshness, 17 is my limit (although I think 18s are the best compromise on looks, again that is wholly personal); plus I am not a fan of the rubber-band tire look on most vehicles (I did see an x-box with 18s, since that's such a quirky vehicle anyway it looked okay).

To each their own. I like the clean stock look, and I like this look. Ive done both, I decided to depart from the traditional this time around.

Certainly not my preference but as I always say, the great thing about owning a car is that you get to decide how to mod and maintain it.

On the radio, you're probably better off sticking a post in the audio/tele forum. First, the interface between the head unit and cluster spans several years and model lines, not just the newer 210, and Second, that tech forum is loaded with tech guys that live and breathe such stuff. If there are aftermarket units (or plug-in interface units) that allow you to retain the steering wheel controls they'll know.

I actually stumbled upon a nice setup last night. An in dash lcd touch screen that vibrates when you touch it to simulate button presses. You purchase a seperate BLACKBIRD GPS device and it slots in behind the screen and gives your car both bluetooth functionality for your phone, that completely works flawlessly like the way Mercedes intended, steering wheel controls included.

And then it also of course, provides the LCD with GPS capability.

And you still retain all volume and track controls on the wheel as well.

If anyone is interested in what Im talking about, Ill post it. The setup seems to cost about 1300 or so total.

And congrats on the vehicle upgrade, BTW.

Take care and enjoy the ride,

Thank you

if looks are all you want, than it doesn't look bad, actually looks pretty good. but you definitely need a drop and a tint job with those black wheels. i would do 20% all around. and don't forget to keep the tires pressure close to max, because those rims will bend easily. but your car prob rides like shit, unless your town has the best paved roads in the world, where i live i'm dodging potholes half the time.
