Kieran,
Do not buy any MB-CD changer, it does not last. You should up grade your system directly to a MP3 play back which do not need any moving parts and holds much more music and last forever. I have 2 MB-CD changers in 2 of my MB. The one in the S500 already gave me ' NO magazine" issue even I took it apart and repair once. But i only drive that car 5K/ yr so i just ignore that defect. Unless I can repair the CD without any cost, otherwise, i will upgrade it to MP3 system and forget the trouble forever.

Agree with you daisound,

it's a waste of time - I have fixed it three times now and always comes back to the No Magazine message. I do not have the fiber optic plug problem - it's just a mechanical issue of not pulling the CDs out of the magazine. MP3 is the way to go.

Cheers

My 10 years old CD changer in my '00 E430 is having some problems, the changer P/N A 002 820 7989, Model No MC3198.

The head unit says NO DISC, when I tried to open the door by sliding the door to the right, it stuck solid.

I removed the CD changer from the car to open the case to see if I can slide the door open, I did not see any way it can be opened from inside.

Do the CD changer needs power to open the door to remove/insert the CD cartridge ? Is there any trick to open the CD changer door ?

My CD Changer is similar to the CD changer posted by Kieran28 on Oct 05, 3-4 posts above.
