Timing Chain or Timing Belt Hey all, this is my first post!
Does my 1999 E430 Sport have a timing chain or timing belt?
Thanks in advance

You have a chain. I don't think there is a single automotive M-B engine with a timing belt. I doubt that any of their engines have timing belts.

M104 motors you inspect the chain for stretch when you replace the leaking head gasket or timing chain cover which will usually precede the head gasket failure so you might as well do it at the same time
.the m104 only has a single chain prone to stretching.
His m113 engine if properly maintained the double roller chains and silent, rubber-coated sprockets will last into long life.Same with the M112
