hello, greetings from south carolina; i work at a dealership and i have never been able to fit a set off 211 16 or 17 inch wheels on a 210. the last time we tried a set, a few months back, the wheels didnt fit on the hub correctly on the front. i dont remember exactly what the problem was, but know now that 211 wheels wont fit on a 210. if im wrong someone please tell me, but i dont think i am, and that is the reason we have ne ver put 211 wheels on a 210. 210 wheels will fit on a 124, with slight rubbing at the rear wheel well, with bigger than a 225/60/16. i dont want to mislead you, but im pretty sure im right. im at roadsidedude@hotmail.com if you have any other questions. good luck with your venture, i think the 17 inch wheels look good on your 211, take care.
i'm not sure why your experience has proven such. i know that the bolt pattern
is the same (5-112), the center bore is same (66.5). what one needs to do is
to carefully determine that the new rim fit within the window of flexibility needed
to fit the rim with the car, taking into consideration...
- wheel thickness at the bolt seat (to determine lug bolt length need)
- ball seat size (to determine proper lug bolt ball seat radius)
- bolt hole diameter (to determine proper bolt size)
- wheel offset (to determine proper clearance...)
- tire size (to determine proper clearance and odo, speedo, cruise control
compatibility and readout....and compatiiblity if 4matic)
I am one who has success using 211 with 210, having fitted 2005 AMG rims
with my 99 E320. I purchased hybrid lug bolts from OtisInc who grafted
14mm ball seat onto 12mm bolt. Center bore has perfect fitment. I've used
this combo for over a year and every couple of months, I've pulled the rims
and carefully examined for scratches, wear, or any signs which might reveal
incompatibility. So far, fitment, use and operation has been solid.

Ohlord you are killing me I was going to search for the W211 Yilduz wheels when the dealer stopped me dead in my tracks by talking about the incompatibility. Aw heck its too late I am on my way to pick W210 wheels for my old faithful W124 and well I will leave the W211 Yilduz wheels for later in like 5-7 years when I can really afford them =O... =)
I purchased my '00 E430 Sport used with '03 W211 E320 16 inch wheels. I switch back to the original 17 inch wheels that came standard on the E430 Sport. I could not believe I was driving a car with a spare I could not use.
So if your new wheels require special lug nuts save the old ones for the spare.

spare tip about the lugs also came to me during the night, not only that but if you don't accurately plus size your rims and tires if you do have a flat the spare may be off in diameter enough to throw the abs, cruise control, out of whack. So drive very slowly till you can get the tire repaired.
Good tip JCFair

Good point indeed! Probably saved a few people from one of those "This'll only take me a minute honey!.....oh.....fook. Uhm...honey, about this flat....uhm...." moments.
Wait, I'm confused.
My car's tool kit came with lug bolts for the stamped-steel spare. If you have a regular spare then yep, you'd better keep a set.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
