In car temperature sensor

Hello all and thanx for a great source of information.

I have a 1998 E320 wagon and just ran the A/C diagnostic and I get an Error code B1226 in car temperature sensor malfunction. When I read the sensor values then senor 1 reads "E" so I'm pretty sure it's malfunctioning.

Has anyone ever had this problem and do you know the fix?

Does anyone know the cost of this sensor if it needs replacing?

Best regards from Iceland,
Steindi

Run

the tests again, post all the values and the errors.
How to Diagnose Air Conditioning Malfunctions | EclassBenz.com
when in error mode press both auto buttons at the same time to clear the error data.
Wait 15 minutes and run the tests again see if the error returns.
Are all the other values in range?
cabin temp sensor can often be vacuumed out with a shop vac and if that does not cure it

it is an easy diy up by the rear view mirror in that little vent area.
good luck in Iceland

Saying E rather than a reading probably means that the sender itself is bad. It comes with the fan, is not terribly expensive and is quite easy to replace. Once you get the lamp assembly off the roof, simply turn the sending unit 1/4 turn and it pops out.

Of course, your pushbutton unit could also be bad, but that's probably far less likely.
