Hi all,
I recently went through the engine bay on my E300 D turbo -replaced all the usual suspects -new clear fuel lines- viton O-rings for the shutoff valve- O-rings/copper washers for IP delivery valves- and new Bosch glow plugs. It runs great and no leaks so far. After about 40 miles of driving spread over a weekend, I noticed the CEL on (engine was warm) -then the glow plug light came on within minutes of that. I continued driving and noticed the glow plug light was intermittent- It cranks up quickly and idles smooth even after a frosty 45 degree mornings here in Los Angeles. This morning she cranked perfectly no CEL or intermittent glow plug light -drove for about 1/2 hour-made a 5 minute stop -after cranking again the CEL and glow plug light remained on with no change in performance. Is it possible the glow plug relay is starting to fail after it reaches a certain temp? I haven't checked the resistance of the new glow plugs yet.
Has anyone experienced this after replacing the glow plugs?
btw the CEL code was for glow plugs
Many thanks
