was looking to find out if there is a way to make the rumble of the engine louder without installing the crazy looking ricer exhaust pipes. Does changing the air intake help with making the engine rumble any louder? Not sure if this a crazy idea for a E430 W210 but I wanted to find out if it is feasible and what needs to be tweaked to make it happen without doing any long term harm to the engine of the car.
As always I appreciate the input I get from MB enthusiasts.
I dont think an intake would really help anything. The stock w210 intake dosen't have any resonators or anything like that so an aftermarket intake wouldn't really do much.
your model it might be called the center muffler.Find a member who has done it and see if they can send you a sound clip.
or if you really want sound QTP ONLINE

I don't think you want to be that loud
I put an all stainless one-muffler dual pipe exhaust system by Stillen on my ML430, Solihull77. Muted, but very nice rumble. Added 2mpg and knocked off about a half second to 60. Sounds a little bit stronger than a ML55AMG
I built a custom 4" intake for my E420 out of some exhaust tubing and a generic K&N round filter. Total cost $50. It made a huge difference in sound at wide open throttle.
Next I installed a custom 2 1/2" Flowmaster exhaust. That makes it rumble at part to wide open throttle like a real V8. IT also shaved about 50 lbs in weight off the car.
