Upper spring mount ?

Took the car into the mechanic today, and he found the passenger side upper spring mount is coming apart from the frame. The shop doest fix that stuff i guess, and told me it would be at least a grand, it looked rather easy to fix to me. Looked like it just needed rewelded. Anyhow, can someone give me some advise on this.

No need

for pics, front spring perches have rusted out,it is an area that i always say get inspected before buying a w210 you got bit with one of the poorly welded and waterproofed ones.Water gets in behind the mastic coating and rusts away the welds.Handy with tools?and a welder?if not ask the local dealer if they have some kind of part ownership of the problem and will they pay part of the repair or who does their repairs. It is a common issue esp in rust prone areas of the country. You are lucky it did not happen while driving at 70mph

be nice but be firm with the dealer and see if they will help.if not a good body or suspension or welding shop will get it going again, check the other side to be safe, peel off the mastic to inspect

Ok i peeled the stuff back its rusty, and about 1/4 broke off the weld. I had to wait for the camera to charge to get pics, i have 2 that turned out ok. What am i looked at for repair, i would do it myself if i had a lift and welder, but i dont have either, but yeah i normaly do all my own work. I just dont want to be taken at a stealership or suspension shop. To me it looks like a drop the spring, sand and reweld job. But i have never had a problem with a spring perch on anything ive owned. Thanks

try

what i said about the dealer ,read those other stories so you can go in armed. It is more than just a weld, rust is cancer it needs to be cut back to clean metal repaired and then welded and finished.
