Guys, the subject is a 2001 E320. The problem occurs like this:
After 18 hours or so, the passenger side seat switch, electronic mirror, and window motor, no longer function. Essentially the passenger side quarter is dead.
After more time has passed, all of the quarters become dead.
And lastly, after yet more time, the combination stalk fails: The wipers stop working, the blinkers are dead, etc.
Question: Does the PSE Pump control all of these functions?
Another question: Does a PSE Pump have to be coded for a specific car?
PSE controls the Door locks and Multicontour seats if so fitted
Sounds like a Convenience Control unit
as the seat / door control unit works only ONE side unless BOTH failed?
Yes the PSE is Version coded to the car via the star aka SDS
Thanks for taking the time to respond, Mark.
We've got a weird one, here. The entire interior CAN seems to fail over time, and multiple codes are generated in response. One of the guys I took it to claimed he was 100% sure it was the PSE Pump that failed and caused the issues.
Some more information,
It always, ALWAYS starts at the passenger side front quarter. All the items I mentioned to you fail, in that area, at once. Tried replacing the seat control module, no good. Tried replacing the door module, still no luck. Followed back to the PSE. Just not my day. This thing is a nightmare because everything looks good on the surface, but the codes generated must simply be sprung off of the main culprit, which at this point is still undetectable. Oh, the wiring in the CAN is apparently OK, as well.
