Help, Transmission noise in Nuetral & Park 1999 E320

Help, Transmission noise in Nuetral & Park 1999 E320
Any help is greatly appreciated, my Mercedes mechanic moved his shop and didn't notify new address or phone...

I have a 1999 E320 with 93,000 miles. The transmission and B Service were completed last year.

I was driving up my drive way when all of a sudden shifter went to nuetral (if I remember correctly)... I put car back in drive and parked.. Now, everytime the car is in Park or Nuetral and engine is running... I hear a strange rattling noise from what seems to be the transmission. The noise goes away when I shift into Drive or Reverse.

Can anyone help???

Thanks! dfernandez7@gmail.com 408.505.8718

Sounds like...

a shift linkage issue.

I would recommed getting it looked at soon. If you have access to a lift, you can look from underneath the car. It [hopefully] should not not be a big deal to repair. Usually a replacement of bushings will do the trick.

Good luck,

JR

Hi!

Took car to Mercedes Exclusively (350 Kiely San Jose Ca)... Tony put it up on rack and placed linkage bushing (it was completely gone!)... now my E320 works beautifully! He was done in fifteen minutes and charged me twenty $ =)

THANKS JR & Tony!
