I used HR springs with koni adjustable shocks. #1 pad in front and #4 pad in the rear. I have 18" wheels. Car is GLUED to the road! Ride is stiff but not stupid stiff!
I checked my car today and i have #5 pads in the front and #4 in the rear. Do you recommend getting new pads? Would it make a big difference? I'm getting H&R springs.
The pads do make a difference. The smaller the pad, the stiffer the ride. I'd say the biggest difference is the small bumps in the road at speed. The larger pads dampen the rough ride a bit, but also alow for more body roll in corners.
I say do H&R springs with #2 or #3 pads and try for softer shocks. My Bilstiens HD's are very firm.

Well it's all depends if you want to lower it more, since you just want up to 1.5 lowered.
I went with the 1-4's because I wanted a slight rake front to rear. As for the shocks Bilstein is excellent but I liked the idea of the adjustable KONIs. If you are changing springs I would change shocks too. Good luck let us know what you decide.
Oh by the way BENZ BUTTS DON"T SAG!!!!!!!
