City Light Options

Hello all - quick question: Can LED lights be used to replace the "City Lights" or will this cause an issue with the bulb monitoring system? These are the H6W bulbs I'm referring to. I'm looking to find a bulb closer to the whiter/bluer Silverstar low/high/fog bulbs I am running. I did find Osram Cool Blue H6W bulbs at Motorbulbs out of England but would like to use LED if possible.

Thanks,
M

You can use LED but yes, you will have to use a resistor in the circuit to avoid the dreaded "Lamp Malfunction" warning.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Thanks for the info - couple more quick questions: Would the resistor go in series and what value/watt? I'd assume if it goes in series a 1/4 watt resistor would be sufficient since the LED current draw is much less than an incandescent bulb - but what resistance (ohm) would I need to trick the monitor?

Thanks.

A 10W 100 Ohm ceramic resistor worked for the lisence plate lights...hope that helps.
