Good afternoon,
I have a 2000 E320, and I bought the 12 spark plugs it takes to replace the old ones, but I cannot figure out how to get the spark plug wires off. They look different than the normal spark plug wires I'm used to, and I don't want to just start pulling/breaking things apart, as I'm sure the wires are really expensive just like everything else on this car. Can someone tell me how to get the wires off, and what the gap spec is for the plugs? Thanks, Jon
first read the diy in the top section.Next the plugs if you got the proper platinum single side electrode bosch or ngk are already gapped.Third if you need one of the plug tools the special 17mm open end offset wrench I have it for 25 bucks u.s. lower 48 delivery or you can use a long 5/8 in a pinch.Do not remove the wires from the coil end just move the coils side to side as you unhook the plug ends and then you can move the coils to the front out of the way top get at the plugs.Use the 17mm to pop the wires back onto the plugs when you are done.No anti seize on the threads, new plugs are treated with a non conductive metal anti seize.Follow torque setting unless you have done plugs before and are sure you know how to seat them and tighten properly by the seat of your pants.
Be careful around the heat shield on the drivers side(can be sharp)
take your time,have fun ohlord
ngk 7090 plugs are about $2.99 at most auto parts stores

Hi, Jon. I answered your post in the 124 forum, please complete your BW online profile re vehicle and location.
If you look at the top of this forum there is a DIY sticky that includes a spark plug DIY, within which you will find the info you seek.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

DIY Spark Plug Change-1997 E320??? Will this work???
. . . I still haven't got around to changing my plugs. I need to buy that "special 17mm open end offset wrench" still (is $25 a good price???), and I need to make sure that the DIY posted at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...1997-e320.html will work for my car before I start pulling it apart. That DIY says it is for a 96-97 e320, and I have a 2000 e320; I know they are very similar, but there are not identical. Any advice would be appreciated.

You have a V6 engine in your 2000 E320. The 96-97's have an inline six which requiers 6 plugs and not the 12 needed for your V6. The two engines are totally different.
You are looking in the wrong DIY section. Look at the one that is written by G-AMG. He has the info you need for your plug change.
you have a m112 and that diy is for the m104 straight 6,
PM me and if we get a sunny day I'll drop by and let you borrow the tool and let you do the diy while I supervise
My garage is a mess of race cars right now so your drive way or mine.
Where are you in Mill Creek?

I was just going to suggest you cruise on over and lend a hand.
To hold his beer while he works, of course.
Jon, you'll save shipping so buy the cluster and radio tools at the same time. Hate to say it, but sooner or later...
