Can MB's power steering fluid damage paint like the brake fluid?
What kind fluid is it? hydraulic? transmission type fluid? Toyota uses Dexron II transmission fluid for their power steering. Does MB use different type of fluid?
someone correct if i;m wrong, but i think is hydraulic fluid. a few months ago i went to my indie and asked him to add some power steering fluid to my reservoir because it was low, and i remember that the bottle he used said "hydraulic" among other words that were in german.
I think manufacturers produce so many different fluid bottles, but change only color of fluids to make customer spend more money. technically you can use any light-weight oil in the power steering system. Some cars use transmission, some hydraulic. Just like you can use motor oil in automatic transmission it will not make bigger effect.
All of oils will damage paint if left on it for long time.
Hydraulic oils seems to be the most aggressive.
