Black Lines On Brand New Fleece Oil Filter

I purchased a brand new MANN fleece oil filter HU 718/5X from antohausaz. After I received it, I found out that it has two short black markings on the filter. I wonder what's that for?

I just found out that there is an installation illustration came with the filter. There are four pictures on the paper but no words. I think what it's trying to say is that when the filter is correctly inserted on the "stick", there should be only one line exposed. If both lines are exposed, then the filter is not inserted fully.

I had experience that the filter is very difficult to be inserted fully at the last quarter inch or so. But I know that when I torque the whole assembly onto the engine, the filter will be pushed into the correct position.

That is exactly what the lines are for. If you have a little trouble sliding the new filter in to place. you can always try rubbing some fresh oil on the hole with your finger before sliding the filter into the canister lid. It will help the filter slide into place. Use a good amount of oil.
