I bought my E420 with 116,000 mls last week, I'm certainly impressed with the car so far. My routine with a used car is to change all the fluids right away and I'm waiting for my manual to arrive from ebay. In the meantime if someone can tell me where the drain cock is at the bottom of the rad and if it's possible to access without removing the plastic covers at the bottom of the car. Also, I've found the drain plug on the differential but not the filler plug? Finally, where's the fuel filter on this car? does anyone know the part number? I've never done so before but I'm going to do oil changes topside. I'm buying a marine pump, Jabsco part # 34060-0010 (Little Pal) I'll let you know how it goes.
chato, before you change the coolant, differential fluid etc, i would personally change the transsmision fluid/filter/pan gasket in that car if it hasn't been done before. you can also drain the torque converter in your car so all the old fluid gets out.
just go the the diy page for the w210 forum, everything you need is there.
Thanks guys, it's nice to get imediate responses. The car was serviced by MB and the service manager told me the transmission fluid was changed last year. He said they typically only do drains and refils and not flushes ? I'm off to check out the DIY section.
