SAVED $$$$$$$$

Had a CEL display on my 1999 430. Purchased a Code Reader from Harbor Freight $52.00 including shipping. Downloaded codes and posted them on this site. Mass Air Sensor. New Sensor insert $129 or entire unit $200. A member recommended trying to clean the unit before replacing. I tried cleaning worked great. Great DIY article on this process..called dealer out of curosity..$400-600 ..yeah right
my cost..... $52.00 Code reader.... $6.60 CRC mass air cleaner
and 20 minutes of my time. Oh and the reader is reusable

I tried to clean 4 MAF sensors with 0 success ratio.
But I stayed at Holiday Inn last week.

Since you'll soon be needing a new mass air sensor, the Mercedes part number is 113 094 00 48.

List price for this item is $384.00 and you can get it online for $299.52 from this Mercedes dealer
Duval Motor Cars

It's always good to have accurate information.

Double-check that part number when it comes time (soon) that you need one.

Hey, ETP. Glad that worked for you. I'm like Kajtek1, my experience with cleaning has been mostly unsuccessful, I think some cars and situations respond better to it. In my 210 cleaning worked for about 1 month, then that was it, back to the CEL.

If you do end up needing a MAF, you can go the whole unit replacement route, and you can get the genuine Bosch unit online from other places for less than Duval sells it. That used to be the way I leaned (and the way I actually went, got it at Autohausaz for a tick over $200 with free shipping). However, I'm now convinced that unless the rest of the MAF is somehow damaged you need only replace the sensor insert, which is the $129 part (plus shipping) that you referenced. Germanstar.net is a sponsor and admin on the site, great guy in charge, he sells them for most of the late-model MBs. Assuming I need another one, I'll be buying the insert instead of the whole unit.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

i try cleaning and cel came back on in like 2 days. i ordered an insert last night on ebay, $115 shipped i am sure germanstar can match this price if they try. i will have to take the ebay risk by saving $20. I also bought 1 air filter and 3 fleece oil filters from autohausaz to qualify for $50 free ship. as i need them with the new sensor installation. autohausaz has the best price on filters and such, i am not sure why they dont offer just the insert for sale, if they do i might have bought everything from them.

You won't learn

will you?
Ebay maf?Warned you about the cleaner, you used anything but the proper crc brand and the car ran like crapola, and now to save 20 bucks you order off ebay?Either it is a recycled one off of somebody's work bench or it is one of those Chinese clones that they buy for 6 bucks each in boat loads and sell to unsuspecting chumps for $115.
I am sure Ron at Mercedes Benz Parts, Mercedes Parts, Accessories has no need to match ebay prices, since you probably have no refund coming when the one you bought on ebay fails and he will end up selling you a real bosch insert or the whole unit anyway.

i know someone were gonna say something. i have bought tons on stuff off ebay and am very happy with all my purchases. i know alot of sellers selling the cheap china sensors on there, i didnt buy one of those. the company i bought from looks legit to me. All European they are still working on the website i suppose. keep this in mind, germanstar is not the only company that stock the BOSCH SENSOR. dont get mad at me cause i didnt buy from one of the sponsor. or you can say "i told you so" when i get the sensor and it fail to work once i get it install. right now i just dont know yet, just wait and see.
