Unhappy Kickdown switch does not seem to engage 1st gear?

Hey Guys,

I was overtaking a couple of cars this morning, and noticed that when I used the kickdown switch it felt like it only dropped into 2nd gear from 4th.? I was only doing about 20mph so I used to remember the car going into 1st gear and really accelerating hard!

any ideas? should I check the oil level of the automatic gear box, or what else could cause this?

thanks

Send a message via MSN to ReZzZ320
the kickdown shift is suppose to downshift to the previous gear

At 20 mph

you should not have been in 4th gear,if the transmission is going up the gears to 4th from a stand still it is upshifting way to quickly and the engine is falling on it's face power wise. Now if it had shifted out of 1st and into second gear at the proper speed,it should have allowed the trans to kick down into 1st gear at about 20 mph,so you may need to check for adjustment of the linkage or wear on the linkage. If you punched it and it failed to kick down automatically, a trans fluid and filter change may help along with a test of the transmission operating pressures, any good transmission shop can perform.

General Information
hope it helps the 210.055 is the values for gas,I did not read what spec your car is but I'm thinking if you are flooring it to out run the comp it must be gas!

Great looking ride btw, love the stance!!

Thanks guys for the advice, you were right about what you said for being in 4th at 20mph, I have checked it was actually 2nd and at around 25-30mph if I left if the gas it will drop nicely into 3rd.
I think I have just got used to the acceleration and it feels slower then normal. I have tried it again and in 2nd it drops to 1st ok. It just feels a bit slower then I remember~?
