I went to start my car tonight to go to the store. Everything started up 100% fine. I went to change gears, and it will NOT move. The car ran fine the last time I drove it, and it has never done this before. I tried everything from pumping the brakes to holding the breaks to pushing on the back on the car while my friend tried switching the gears. Nothing.
I dont know whats wrong at all, does anyone have any idea????? It will NOT change from park whatsoever. I tried restarting the car about 6 times.
the tow trucks on the way... something about a new brake switch.
if anyonee has this problem in a 99+ mercedez, you have a manual shift release located under D on your shifter, it should be like a little U shaped spot or something, but you stick a screwdriver or something in therre WITH YOUR CAR RUNNING and your foot on the brake, and you shoul dbe able to get it out of gear. Sadly they didnt have this on the 96 mercedez lol
you can jam a pen in the hole to the left of the gear selector. see your owner's manual for the exact location. that action will allow you to bypass the faulty seitch.
