A/C Compressor leaking. Is that supposed to cause shut down?
Hey Guys, I ran the codes and found that my compressor is leaking. It has been making the hissing sound for a long time but I figured as long as I kept refilling the system with Arctic Freeze I should be ok. Recently things have gotten worse, its hissing constantly, and most of the time the fan shuts down completely leaving me with Zero air flow through the vents. Is that common, or could I have a deeper issue??? Thank
it will just plain shut down the compressor....Get out the dye kit and the bright black light and locate the leak and fix it,or find, borrow, beg, the electronic sniffer, more sensitive and able to locate leaks without the mess.
code 1241 low refrigerant ,would be a clue to a leak. That and the fact He has no cooling.that and the fact that he has had hissing from the vents. That and the fact it kept working if he added r134a.I should think that would be enough (codes) to be a starting point in any diagnostic flow chart...........BTW how is your system running?
so while it may not be his compressor that has the leak,(an error in his understanding) of the diagnostics,it is in all likelyhood pointing towards a major leak in the system.
"GOT CODES?"
Code B1241 Explanation: You're low on refrigerant! Get your A/C recharged and this should go away. This code disables your A/C. You may be able to bypass this block if it's triggered by a defective sensor.
so post the values 1-8 and the error codes and let's have a look see.
My car is all F#&KED up now! Get this, I had a blow out so I put the spare on. When I was getting the spare out of the trunk, a positive amp wire grounded out. Before I knew the amps had grounded out I took the car to my mechanic to change the tire and fix the passenger window regulator (also broken at the time) When my guy was finished fixing the regulator, he went to re-connect the positive terminal on the battery. All done right? WRONG! That fucking wire that had grounded out caught fire which quickly burned its way into the cabin, under the carpet to the front fire wall, melting several wires in the stock harness AND destroyed the factory fuse box under the back seat!
I guess It's just coincidence that the A/C took a dump on me right after I got the car back.
I still love my car, the W210 chasis will always have a timelessly Classy look.
But sadly this benzo is on its way to car heaven, cause I just can't keep fixing things that cost far more than a new car payment...
P.S. Anyone have an 03-05 CL500 they want to donate?
wow
wow
at a loss for words
I guess that's why we always install a fuse in line between the amp and the battery,or should. You can pick up a harness at aurora auto wrecking in seattle they are on line and have lots of mb,might be worth the work if the car is worth saving.
