i gave in to sirius. took them up on a free car player. looks like it was made for our ashtrays. spent 3 hours making it look "good." very happy with it. took some advice from here and made a new connection using the stupid tape deck. sounds pretty good. anyone interested i'll take pics and give you a weak diy.

Glad you're happy with it, I've got a portable (and I do mean fully portable) Delphi XM that spends so little time in the car that I don't really worry about it, but man is it ugly when it's in there flopping around on the dash.
When you have time please put together a few pics together with a write up on what you did, we're happy to add it to the sticky thread.

whatz up? I have a 1997 e320 and i have a sirius aftermarket that i have installed where u wold put cds at you can close the door and its like itz not even there i will supply photos

Note that for W210s Mercedes has made a "nonsmoker" ashtray which is just an open box with a power plug (with hinged cover) at the right side. It's a pretty cool sat radio solution.
