Picked up my first M-B (2000 E430) today from a high end used dealer and before I left the lot, I made sure to try every single thing on the car.
Wouldn't you know it, I roll the LR window down and hear a disgusting crash like a window breaking. Turns out the regulator snapped and dealer paid for a new one. I told him I would put it in, as I have years of bodyshop and engine experience.
Disconnect the battery so as not to set off the SRS, get the regulator changed, button it up and go to start the car.
Now I get ABS and ESP warnings with "See Workshop" or some such thing. Also got the "code" across the radio, so I will look at the manual to reprogram it (I have the card).
So................How do I reset the computer?
It now shows 2 malfunctions and the kicker is before the car was delivered, it got an "A" service at M-B yesterday.
radio card is not in the radio manual or the owners manual, you just need to take the proof of ownership to the dealer and they will give you the code. The reset of the abs system is start the car turn the steering wheel all the way left and all the way right, you may need to also sync the windows.
1.) Hold each window switch in the first detent of the UP position (not express-up) for 2-3 seconds after the window is fully raised. This synchronizes the windows.
2.) Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times. This recalibrate's the ESP steering angle sensor.
3.) If your sunroof has express-open or close, hold the button in the tilt-up position for 2-3 seconds after it is fully tilted.
Good luck with the new car,if you know your way around a car, sounds like you do,it will get better as you figure it all out.
the diy section on the w210 forum is a great place to start, the members on www.mbworld.org w210 are wonderful also, and MercedesShopWiki: MercedesShop - Do It Yourself
is another great link.

Thanks, I actually found the info in DIY after doing a bunch of reading.
This seems to be a site full of great knowledge that will save me a few trips to the dealer.
Hi, jh and welcome to the forum. Please update your profile re: location.
There is indeed a wealth of information on this site, but you've overlooked another rich source: your owner's manual. The info you sought here is in the manual and lots more besides. Like you I have lots of history and familiarity with cars generally; even at that my Benz was the first car that I took the time to read the manual and I'm very glad I did. So that would be my additional recommendation to you.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
