I am trying to replace the license tag lights on my 2000 e320. The owner's manual covers every bulb but those. I took off the piece with the three screws on the extetior of the car, but now I am at a loss as to what to do next. Can someone help me understand what to do next? Thanks.
Hey, DL. When you have a minute please complete your online profile re: vehicle and location.
There was just another post on this a couple weeks ago. If I remember correctly there is another screw or two on the inside, accessible after you remove the liner from the deck lid. (MBZ can't do some things the easy way...) If you use the search function you will find it.
On a tangent, what kind of law do you practice?
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

The three screws on the outside are meaningless. Don't bother with them. You have to remove the trunk liner and get to the lights the back way. There are some plastic pins to remove and then you pull the liner back. It is still a tight job to get to the bulbs. I used a small flat head screw driver to pop them out and also the put them in. Getting the liner back in place was easy.
It took about 20-30 minutes total to do it. It is a bit aggravating that the owner's manual has no instructions for replacing the license tag light bulb.
The guy behind the counter at the dealership joked when I told him I only had one bulb out. He told me to trust him that I would want to replace them both at the same time. Now I know why.
