I have a 2000 E320 and the bulbs for the A/C and heating, and the radio, have burnt out. The dealer wants $60.00 to replace them. There must be an easy way to get access to them but I have no idea how to do it. I know how to pull the radio out, but I do not know if that would get me access to all the bulbs. Any help would be appreciated--thanks
I have the cassette player with a remote CD changer, and I am pretty sure that you have the newer model, but my radio has no bulbs. It uses a bunch of yellow LEDs in the front panel to illuminate the buttons and panel. They aren't replaceable, but should last for the life of the car. (The dash and climate control use incandescent bulbs which can be replaced.)
I suspect that yours is similar. If so, the loss of all of these lamps indicates something other than burned-out bulbs. Perhaps the illumination level control, or even a fuse.
Thanks for the reply Matt-I do not think that my radio has the leds, I do not remember anything yellow-looking. But anyway I looked again at my climate control panel and it has the same slots as the radio for using the keys to pull it out, so maybe that is the way to go. I just need to find out what type of bulbs go in there before I pull the units out. Anyone have those part numbers, and are they something I can buy at the local parts store?? Thanks again
I had the same problem with my AC control panel. The slots accept the same tool to remove the radio. My indy pulled my control panel replaced the bulb in about 10 to 15 minutes. He charged me $5.00 :-)
