Exclamation SRS and Airbag light almost always on

Hi guys,

This is my first topic on this forum so i wanna say hi to everyone here..

Now to the problem i have. I've been getting the SRS and Airbag lights for the past month on my 2000 e270. The MB computer scan indicated that there is a problem with the Automatic Child Seat Recognition sensor. Now i used one afternoon and put apart the seat and looked at the sensor. It seems to be in good condition, but the control box seems to be the source of my trouble. I tried opening the box and checking it out but it was filled with some kind of rubber so opening was pretty hard. From what i was able to see the wires are properly attached, so i guess the problem is more complicated to fix.
Now i wanna know if there is any way i could disable the sensor? So it would send the OK signal to the cars computer? Just wanna get the error message go away, i don't use a child seat anyway. Is this possible in any way without buying a new sensor?

tnx for your replay guys..

My 2001 E320 does the same thing. I'm told I need to take the seat apart and replace the sensor. no one has ever said anything to me about the box, but most places have quoted me somewhere in the range of 180-200 for the sensor.

Sometimes a simple SRS reset will fix the problem but the bad part is you can't do it yourself because you need a special equipment/tool to do it.
