Misfire cylinder 4 5 or 6

Hi

My Engine check light appeared a few days ago and also car started to run a bit rough as if it was misfiring. I also noticed recently that the engine would run very fast when first started until it was placed in gear and would be clsoe to stalling at lights etc.
After looking on the forums I guessed the MAF was faulty and replaced the original with an aftermarket model.
Anyhow the car is still running awful and after checking the codes I have Engine misfire on cylinder 4 5 or 6 and also air intake codes which I guess still points to the MAF.

Any help would be appreciated, I will post actual codes later as my laptop has died on me!

Code P0300 P0306 P0100 P0105

The car is a E240 W210.

Tony

I am sure some one will be able to address your issue in more detail, but if you replaced the MAF unit and are still getting the same issues, you may ............1) have a faulty NEW MAF Sencor unit .............2) May need to change your spark plugs ................. Good luck.....

Ive reset errors and now just have 300 and 306 so I guess there may be a problem with cylinder 6.
I have swapped the coil with cylinder 4 and the fault remains at 6 so I will now check the plugs and see what I find!

What year car?

Stop pulling wires and possibly damaging them, you can buy a test tool that clips on the plug wire and shows if it is good. The problem keeps on cyl6,so attack it there.look for frayed wires in the maf circuit and your wiring harness,i.e. any baked wires in the intake /manifold area.then get a shop stethoscope(cheap at autozone)and listen to the injector on cyl 6,can you hear it buzzing and clicking, that is how it sounds if operating correctly. Then run some techron fuel injector thru the tank as instructed, but do it at 1/4 tank and then add a few gallons to get to 1/2 tank and mix up the additive with the fuel. Why did you replace the maf if it had no code for a bad maf?Do you have the old one?Where did you get the new one,and who made it?

I only have codes 300 and 306, I replaced the MAF as I couldn't read the codes at the time and seemed like the most common problem on here causing the symptoms I had.

Try checking your fuel injectors. Swap one with another one and see if the problem follows the injector or stays with the cylinder. I had problems with my E320 where that was the case. Eventually ended up replacing all 6.

Fixed it!!

I listened to the injectors and found cylinder 5 not working, so I removed the ht cables and found that they were stuck on the coil.
I have now replaced all the leads on cylinder 4,5 and 6 and the problem is solved.

I do not understand why why the ECU was reporting a fault on cylinder 6 when it was on 5 all along.

Oh well its fixed and the wife is happy again.

Thanks for all the advice

T.

It pays to listen

then get a shop stethoscope(cheap at autozone)and listen to the injector on cyl 6,can you hear it buzzing and clicking, that is how it sounds if operating correctly.Quoted from my post above,GRREAT,you are correct about it being odd, usually the cps that triggers the values for what cylinder is misfiring is dead on.But it's fixed and that is what counts.
Thanks for posting the triumph!!!!!!!!!!!
