I've been searching all these recommended sites for new pads and rotors but i have no options when i click on E430 4-matic except for one pad and one rotor. But if i go back and just click E430 i get multiple options to choose from, the pads i would actually like to try. Whats the scoop?

Good question, and sorry to say I don't have an answer for you. I know for sure the E55 has different pads/rotors, but I don't see why they would differ between E430 and E430 4-matic. There are plenty of gurus here to help you. In any event, Good Luck in your search!

Since they're different part numbers I would guess they are NOT interchangeable. What the differences are I can't tell you (and really that's irrelevant), but the fact that they're different means you have fewer choices.
Yet another reason I'm glad I didn't buy the 4-matic.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Sorry for the sarcasm, but why get worked up about it? This is sort of like asking how come you can't lower the 4matic or why did they put bigger wheels on the sport edition...it's a difference that is irrelevant in your circumstance. You have the 4matic, you have to get the brake pads specified for it. Done deal, plain and simple. There are a couple of MB techs on the site, check the general forum as they post in there some, and PM them, but I doubt they could give you a specific reason either.
Front suspension on 4-Matic is totally different than on RWD.
No spring perches at all. Still surprised that the brakes are different too?
Greg if you thing 4-Matic is not so good idea, let's see if you can make it up my driveway when it is wet and muddy in yours?

Hey, Kajtek1, didn't mean to impugn the 4-matic, it's an awesome system. Just that I'm glad I don't own one for the place I live and the conditions in which I drive. Your customizing, personalizing and maintenance options are just more limited on the 4-matic; if all you want is a good car to drive and not change anything, the 4-matic is perfect, but you're otherwise restricted.
