DTC codes. My 1996 E300D gets a "Check engine electronics" after start on the display. I know the process for getting the codes from the climate control system. Is there a master list of codes somewhere and also can I clear the codes via the climate control system diag process?

Climate control system displays only the codes as if "reads only" and you cannot clear the codes from there.

Reason: spelling
As far as I know, the climate control can't even read that code.
You will need a scanner. There are several lists of codes, some of which are standard across manufacturers (such as P0 codes) and others which are not (such as P1 codes).

I'm talking about the codes from your climate control..see previous discussion in our AMG section
The onboard diagnostics for the climate control show just that, all the info pertaining to the climate control functions, temps volts error codes etc.,you need to get an obd2 reader and collect the codes fix the prob and clear the codes.Later year car have more info avail. but someone should have info for your year model
